Northam track on the mend

Northam Race Club secretary Nicole Bell has reported that after only a week�s respite that the Avon Valley racetrack is showing signs of recovery. �The track looks better than what was expected and is remarkably greener already. Tests done on the course today have shown that the track is strong and will recover quickly,� Nicole said on Tuesday. Friday will see the last of the reparation work done and then it will be just time to let it re-establish and we will be back racing on Thursday 14th August.� RWWA Stewards will inspect the course on Thursday 7th August. Almost immediately after last Thursday�s meeting 36 millimetres of rain fell on the track and continued during the following Friday and Saturday. �Someone upstairs was looking after us to get through last Thursday�s meeting without any fuss with the weather I am sure. It seemed that everyone left the course and then the heavens opened up,� the secretary added.
