Belmont preview for July 23

The ten event Belmont programme contains almost without exception some of the most open races seen on WA tracks for sometime. Every event poses a big challenge for tipsters and punters alike with no standout horses throughout the programme. There is plenty of relevant Northam form to consider with horses such as Beau Of Indies, Cielo Du Fuego, Black Habit and Bandalera to name a few, all strong chances after good Avon Valley performances. The Westspeed two-year-old plate could see the Gelorup trained Beautiful Dane return to form. A recent trial win is a good indication that she can recapture the form that saw her win at Bunbury in March. Well-bred newcomer Admiring ran a slashing trial behind the smart Timeous on July 14. She is a half sister to listed winner Empire Dancer and is out of the stakes winning mare Ballet Girl. Danelike, a half brother to the former talented galloper Super Tom, could break through for Gelorup trainer Viv Ferrier in race two. He drops several classes on his sixth to Lord Baumay at Belmont last start. Bandalera was trapped wide when sixth to Briccone at Northam on July 10 and could make amends in race three, the 1400 metre Three Year Old Westspeed Maiden. Last start Northam winner Black Habit has drawn badly in race five but in an event that lacks depth will be hard to hold out. Paul Harvey takes over for trainer Lou Luciani and she will be finishing hard. Another runner with good Northam form, Beau Of Indies can finally win one in the sixth event. The gelding was caught wide last start when third to Akheson on a front-runners track. He is due for a change of luck.
