Northam Preview July 29

Interest will surround the run of the Dan Morton-trained Belora in the Spielmeister Maiden (1100m).

The Oratorio two-year-old was an impressive third behind Cold Handel at Belmont Park a fortnight ago at his debut run.

He was settled towards the rear of the field before working home strongly in the second fastest final 600 metres of the race and looks a strong chance to breakthrough this afternoon based on that effort.

Mister Moneypenny from the Shane Edwards team appears the danger and will go into his maiden run on the back of a solid trial effort two weeks back and Easi Cummins for Donna Riordan does have a competitive fourth placing to Motion Pictures to his record.

The connections of Bianco Magic have been patient with their three-year-old filly but it may be rewarded in the Universal Ruler Maiden (1300m).

The Simon Miller-trained galloper has only had one career start for an inauspicious near last to Collayshell last October but her trial form this time in has been solid with two easy wins by substantial margins.

She will have to be at her best with Juggernaut Jack a strong contender and getting closer to a win as is Colossus Cat for Lindsey Smith.

Jeune filly Western Jewel gets her opportunity of breaking through in the Saxon Maiden (1600m).

The Grant Williams-trained galloper ran on strongly from the rear of the field to be placed fourth at her last-start at Belmont Park a fortnight ago.

She ran the fastest closing sectional of the race and with the services of William Pike and the step up in distance to the mile there is much to like about her chances.

Alaskan will be having his second start in the space of a week following his solid effort at Belmont Park last weekend behind Offer Me Jewels.

The Danetime four-year-old was doing his best work late when fourth to the Mark Reed-trained galloper and should have the edge on his rivals today and Fiery Fox put in his best effort when a last-start close second to Courageous Show and should go one better in the Knowledge Maiden (1100) to continue the good form of the Harrison team.
