Northam Preview July 22
Posted on 22/07/2010 | Posted by Julio Santarelli | Back to News Archive

The Lindsey Smith-trained Snowshoes has the opportunity of breakthrough win in today’s Tim Mosel Memorial Maiden (1100m) at Northam.

The Blackfriars filly ran on well for a second placing to Gavin’s Road a fortnight ago and look for her to produce a similar effort this afternoon despite her wide barrier.

Top weight Splasherini and Lady Ladette will be thereabouts and cannot be left out of the equation.

Traxa for the Michael Pateman team has three placings from five career starts but based on her last-start effort she is getting closer to that elusive win.

She ran on strongly to finish third behind the red-hot School Rumble who scored another win at Belmont last Saturday.

King Bee for Kevin McCauley could be giving some cheek and will have the run of the race from barrier two.

Bruce Watkins will unveil debutant Rose in the Charles Winch Memorial Maiden (1000m) and the Mosayter mare has done everything asked of her in three trials: two wins and a second placing.

Sentimental Star put in a shocker at her first attempt at Belmont Park on June 30 when near last to School Rumble.

Bur her trial form prior was solid and you can’t discount any galloper from the Bob and Sandra Peters team.

Gallipoli Prince displayed fighting qualities at his maiden start and if he can reproduce a similar effort in the Roger Smith Memorial Maiden (1400m) he will prove hard to beat.

The three-year-old son of King Cugat was settled near last approaching the home corner before unleashing a powerful finishing burst to be placed fourth behind Come Party.

He again will have to settle back in the field from barrier 14 but with the services of in-form jockey Damian Lane and the step up in journey from 1300 to 1400 metres he will running home strongly.

If Wild Enforcer can reproduce the same effort as her run against Bizzaca she comes into serious play in the Pippa’s Handicap (1300m).

Look for improvement from Full Fuel and Wildwood will appreciate the class drop in the Cafe Bugati Handicap (1600m) and is worth serious thought.
