First-Up Win For Rosendale
Posted on 13/05/2010 | Posted by Julio Santarelli | Back to News Archive
Rosendale, a four-year-old Jacamar mare, having her first start since February when placed eighth to Frog Legs at Ascot scored a big debut win in the Eagles Boys Maiden (1300m). The Duane Kitchingham-trained galloper came with a barnstorming finish from the rear of the field to get over the top of Elyssa Grace and favourite Lunar Park. It was her first win in six career starts and provided Pike with the second leg of a riding double. Elyssa Grace, who was given a gun ride fourth on the fence, hit the front in the straight and for a brief moment looked a winner but couldn’t withstand the withering finish of the winner. Lunar Park burned across from his wide barrier to take the lead and dictate terms in front but couldn’t uphold the pressure and did well to hang on for third-his second successive placing.
