Miller Confident About Lunar Park

Simon Miller is confident Lunar Park is the horse to beat in Thursday’s Eagle Boys Maiden (1300m) at Northam. The Bletchley Park gelding was most impressive at his debut run at Pinjarra a fortnight ago when a fighting second to Business Partners over 1200 metres. Both runners were involved in a titanic struggle down the straight and it was only over the late stages of the race that Business Partners was able to get the upper hand and cross the line in front by three-quarters-of-a-length. But Lunar Park lost no admirers from the effort and Miller was taken by his ability to fight the race out and his refusal to give in. “It was a super effort considering he looked beaten with 200 metres remaining but he fought back courageously in a great run,” Miller said. “He might need a little luck from the wide draw but I don’t think this is an overly strong race and he is the best of my chances at the meeting.” Ihtiram gelding Rocliffe has yet to salute the judge in four runs but wasn’t too far off them last-start when fourth to My Richard two weeks back. He reached the lead to make it a line of three as they entered the home straight before dashing clear inside the 200 metre mark. He looked the winner all the way before just getting nabbed on the line and finishing out of the placings. “It was one of those teasing runs,” Miller said. “Close but no cigar but a good run nevertheless.” Jimmy’s Toil has been toiling way with minor placings at his last two starts. He gets an opportunity of breaking through in the Westspeed 3-Year-Old Maiden (1600m). “He has been knocking on the door and is a consistent type,” Miller said. “The mile will suit and he is an each-way chance.”
