Wanna Play Doctor To End Northam Season A Winner

Dr Johnson mare Wanna Play Doctor should end the Northam racing season on Sunday in exactly the same winning fashion as she did when making her debut earlier in the year.
The Grant Williams-trained 4-year-old made an immediate first-up impression with a strong win over Zebook and Collecting and followed that effort up with another good victory over the Mike Santich-trained Giho at her second effort.
Two wins from two starts was an ideal beginning to her career and a perfect leg-up for trainer Grant Williams who is establishing his credentials in the thoroughbred world.
A third placing at Belmont Park and a fourth at Northam have since followed but it was her effort in the Toodyay Cup a fortnight ago that demonstrated her toughness and grit
In a brave front-running performance she attempted to lead all the way and appeared at one stage she might be able to pinch the race.
She just failed over the concluding stages but still battled away to the line and was beaten less than three lengths.
It was a gutsy effort considering it was her first attempt over a mile journey at only her fifth career start and even more so when you consider she missed an important lead-up run
She was set to run in the Magic Millions Handicap over 1850 metres but broke through the barriers and after running for an extended period riderless was scratched by the stewards.
If she can repeat her Toodyay Cup effort and her season form to date than punters should see win number three at Northam and win number three of her career.
