Get on the Midnight Special is what lucky punters would have been singing after her win in today’s Carpet Choice Pegulan Vinyl Maiden (1600m).
The Adam Durrant-trained Zabeel mare drove through on the inside to defeat Beaurich and Persian Play with Dinglish back in fourth place.
Racing first-up since her disappointing debut effort at Northam in May, when placed 12th of 15th, she proved too strong for her rivals and gave owner Bob and Sandra Peters a double following the success of Avante in the first.
It’s not often a Peters and Durant trained galloper commences at long odds in a race but astute punters would have lapped up the $23.40 and $5.50 available on tote.
