Cosmopolitan City Deserves Another Chance: Miller
Posted on 8/10/2009 | Posted by Julio Santarelli | Back to News Archive
There were a few punters who were disappointed with the last-start performance of Cosmopolitan City when she finished near the tail of the field in the Westspeed 3-Year-Old Handicap at Belmont Park a fortnight ago.
But the Simon Miller-trained filly has a chance to redeem herself in the Go For 2& 5 Maiden at Northam this afternoon and there was a quiet air of confidence emanating from the stable when they appeared on Racing Radio this morning.
“Forget the last run it was a non-event,” said trainer Simon Miller.
“She froze out of the gates and wanted to retreat and go out the back.
“She drew barrier one which was the first time she has been inside a horse before.
“The addition of blinkers will make the difference today and the extra distance will suit.”
Anything More was in good form when last in work but failed to fire first-up when tenth to Mineours Luck at Belmont Park a fortnight ago.
The race has been thrown right open with the scratching of the highly promising Snug Buggles and Miller is looking for improvement this afternoon.
“A non-event last start after copping a wide alley,” Miller said.
“Rather than starting him in town we have gone down the provincial route and hope to pick up some prizemoney.
“I don’t think he is quite there yet but it’s not a strong race with the scratching of Snug Buggles.
“I think Skitzo is the danger but my horse will run a race.”
