Carbery Returns A Winner
Posted on 30/07/2009 | Posted by Julio Santarelli | Back to News Archive
Pat Carbery has made a successful return to racing following the win of Vain Rooney in todays Scandal Keeper Maiden (1300m) at Northam. Carbery, who has been off the riding scene for several months following ankle surgery, was back to his brilliant best by guiding Vain Rooney to an exciting win over the Golden Dynamo and Salvic who was back in third place. Carbery was able to dictate terms out in front soon after the start but had to withstand a challenge from Golden Dynamo who loomed a serious danger close to home. In a ding-dong battle it was a bob of the head that decided the victor and on this occasion it went to Vain Rooney. It was the Kenvain gelding's first win in eleven starts and a complete form reversal from his first-up run a fortnight ago when he was placed 12th of 16 to Silver Springs. It capped off a good day for Rebecca Nairn who had Step And Go placed third in the Spielmeister Maiden earlier in the programme.
