Clint Harvey Keen On Debutant

A WATCH ON DEBUTANT CHERILY AT NORTHAM: HARVEY Jockey Clint Harvey is confident concerning the prospects of promising filly Cherily ahead of her debut in today's Lui Tuia 70th Birthday Maiden (1100m) at Northam. The Robert Harvey-trained two-year-old has produced three impressive trial runs with two wins and a second placing and only needs to reproduce a similar effort today to be a genuine each-way chance. "I think she will go close and I'm looking forward to seeing how she goes on debut," Harvey said. "Her efforts in the trials indicate she is going well and well know more after today. "I don't know a lot about the opposition but there really isnt too much in the race that scares me. "She is a half to Lachino so we know she possesses some speed." Harvey is hoping The Paul Hunter-trained Lauries Dream can recapture some of his earlier good form in the Scandal Keeper Maiden (1300m). The three-year-old was an encouraging second behind Pearler at Belmont Park on June 24 but his two runs since have been disappointing. His task hasn't been made any easier by drawing barrier 15 but Harvey isn't giving up all hope. "He let me down last run but there were excuses for his failure the start prior," Harvey said. "He got knocked over at a vital stage of the race and nearly went through the fence. "If he can run up to his best he could be a sneaky chance." Harvey's final two rides for the program rest with newcomer Moomba Prince in the Spielmeister Maiden (1300m) and Belle De Nuit in the Northam Matriarch Cup (1400m). Moomba Prince, an Ihtiram gelding, has only shown moderate trial form but any runner from the Bruce Watkins stable has to be respected and with the right run could play a part in the finish. "His trial form has been okay and he does show me something but I think we'll wait and see and make a further assessment after the race," Harvey said. "Belle De Nuit didn't show a lot at her first start but her trial run prior was okay. "But it's pretty much do or die today."
