Several jockeys have booted home multiple winners at race meetings recently on both the city and country tracks.

Riders Shaun O’Donnell, Jason Whiting and Kim Gladwin notched good hauls of winners last week. On Thursday at Northam it was Lucas Camilleri to the fore with a treble at a meeting that was also highlighted by the hollow win of promising filly Timely Queen.

Also amongst the winners lately has been Mark Miller who picked up a double at Kalgoorlie on Sunday. In the first event at Northam he got punters away on the right note with a win aboard trainer Keith Mifflin’s well-supported chestnut Zerico.

Miller produced the Zedrich three-year-old with a wide run in the straight from midfield to grab a narrow long-neck victory over Golden Summer and Grass Muncher.

Camilleri’s run started in the third event over 1100 metres, the Gannon’s Racing Colours Maiden with Lark Hill trainer Duane Kitchingman’s Sweet Dane.

After a fast pace was set, a three-year-old filly, Sweet Dane was relegated to the back of the field but she ran on powerfully to win by one length.

Camilleri buttered up for victory in the next event on the Warwick Bradshaw Bunbury prepared filly Divine Queen and then gave Kitchingman a double in the seventh event.

Race seven the gannons.com.au Handicap saw Milken Whiskey run on to just defeat Jessica Valas aboard Portrait Lass.

However, Valas was then to deliver a knock out punch to quaddie patrons when she guided the third emergency in race eight, In No Danger, to an upset victory. The Gannon’s Presentation Northam Handicap was the feature trophy event on the programme.

In No Danger owned and trained by Kerri Ellis at Pinjarra returned $78.70 on the WA TAB.

Trainer Lindsey Smith and jockey Paul Harvey combined to win two races in the second half of the Northam card.

Much to punter’s delight and relief, Wocket In A Pocket broke through after a copy book ride just off the pace by Harvey.

But in the Ladies Day at Northam 20th September Handicap, the final event, beautifully bred filly Timely Queen stamped herself as the winner of the day.

By Danetime out of winning mare Brilliant Queen, who in turn is the off-spring of a half sister (St. Serene) to Railway Stakes winner Jungle Dawn and the brilliant Jungle Mist, Timely Queen is from a great maternal line.

She dashed through from sixth in the closing stages to win by a conservative 4½ lengths from Teaken and Soviet Prince.
